Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

Resource Review: Jigsaw PSHE 3-11 – John Dabell

At The Coombes, we use Jigsaw as our programme of PHSE. Jigsaw utilises a mindful approach to PSHE, and brings together Personal, Social, Health Education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development within each lesson.

The concepts covered in PSHE include keeping safe and managing risk, identity, equality, managing feelings and emotions, relationships, change, resilience and being healthy, which includes physical, mental, emotional and social well-being. Teachers focus on tailoring the lessons to their children’s needs and to enjoy building the relationship with their class, getting to know them better as unique human beings.

The Curriculum Vision is outlined here: PSHE Curriculum Vision

National Curriculum topics coverage is detailed in our Curriculum Overview. This details when a historical period is taught and some of the key questions for each history topic.

Our further in-depth Curriculum Map of PSHE at The Coombes details the coverage of National Curriculum objectives, as well as Key Questions and opportunities for children to apply their learning within other curriculum subjects and also in our unique and beautiful school grounds.
